What we collect
- Order details - your email, name, shipping address, phone number, and what you bought. The phone number is required by the carrier network that delivers your order.
- Payment references - an identifier for the payment, so we can match a refund to an order.
- Newsletter signups - your email address, if you enter it, plus where on the site you signed up.
- Site analytics - which pages get visited, and roughly where a visit came from.
Your card details never reach us
Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page. Card numbers are never sent to our servers and are never stored in our database. We receive only a reference to the payment and the email, shipping address, and phone number you gave Stripe.
Who your address is shared with
This is the part most policies leave out, so we will be direct about it. Day One does not hold its own warehouse. When you order, your name, shipping address, and phone number are sent to our fulfillment network and on to the supplier who packs and ships your item, along with the items, quantities, and order total. They need it to deliver the box. They receive nothing else - not your payment details, not your email address, and not your order history.
Analytics, and what we deliberately do not do
Our traffic statistics are self-hosted. We record the page visited, a random identifier kept in your browser, the site that linked you to us, and a coarse source such as “search” or “direct”. We do not record IP addresses. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not embed a third-party analytics or advertising script. Nothing about your visit is sold or handed to an ad network.
That is also why you are not seeing a cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.
If you subscribe, we store your address to send occasional notes. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Delivery is handled by an email service provider acting on our behalf. We do not sell or rent our list.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as we need them for returns, warranty claims, accounting, and tax. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics records are not tied to your name or address at any point.
Your choices
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete it, except records we are required to keep for tax and accounting.
- Unsubscribe from email at any time, from any email we send.

Children
This store is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
